Dare to play the GAME!

To play a game, let it be so

Then thou have no fear of failure

One door through, back home you can go

Behind other, thou poor player

Monsters await, let it be so

Iron companions you've got two

Honest and liar both in row

To live on, your best thou shalt do

Query once then let it be so

But since it's just a game, don't blame

The way back home you need not know

Must remain brave and win the fame

Past is all gone, let it be so

Rearrange thine hard-hearted lads

Devise a new time machine, bro

Adventure to thine wisdom adds

To play a game, let it be so

Create joy; make it a poem

Way to heaven, Iron won't show

Play Game, pick the jeroboam

SBUCL Review

Ever since human beings were given the chance to explore beyond the lights, and discover further than the Jade; the question of "How would it feel to literally experience absolute deafening silence of the outer darkness?" arouse. A definite accurate response has not been yielded up, desperation has almost taken over the inquisitive creatures; but, in a mysterious moment, the splendid thought emerged: "Let's CREATE it!"

In the darkness beyond Self, exist dozens of billions of universes; creating a labyrinth tough enough to be classified among the impassables. The first step to this magnificent creation was to bring together as many worlds as possible; thus, the scarlet letters were collected from all round the globe. Then, they were heavenly housed. The moment all the reasonable precautions against breathtakingly rebellious worlds were taken, the success of the simulation was announced.

In order to distinguish its profile, the pioneers were let in. Days and nights passed, and passed; but, there was no sign to be inspected when the pioneers were going to emerge.

"It rarely liberates us from the torturing process of finding an answer to the question; it's a total failure there. But, since you dedicated a great deal of endeavor to do this, we bestow it a name; all deserving and appropriate. You are warned although; in advance, not to let folks figure out its origin; otherwise, you'll lose their interest and attendance. 'LibRary' as it rarely liberates." The representative pioneer addressed, and then swiftly disappeared back into the so-called LibRary, leaving a trace of mystery and doubt; why the pioneers would none leave it if they believe it to be a total failure.

The gates of the LibRary were opened to the folks as it's been promised; the very first steps were taken carefully and fearfully, but then a five-some-year-old girl ran in eagerly and the flow followed her.

No darkness!! No death silence!! No frightening event!! It was fun!! The only sound that could reach the most sensitive ears was that of butterfly's wings flapping. There were rows and rows of shining holders, containing fabulous worlds.

"Yes, library; as one can never liberate one's self from the universe within it." The pioneer girl murmured, sitting on the floor of the library, scrutinizing a book in her little hands.

"Today, a reader; tomorrow, a leader." the notice of the crowd was caught by each letter of it on the wall. In the children division of SBU Central Library, a happy atmosphere prevails, not that it's crowded or noisy; but that, there, everybody goes back to the age of five; all joy and play and persistence to be read to, one more page.

Then, demands the fifteen-year-old the permission of diving; permission given, she flies away into the rows. There, live Heathcliff and Catherine, Romeo and Juliet, Jane and Mr. Rochester; there, comes to life sensibility with Austen, all of a sudden, things fall apart by Achebe and Father Brown rushes in from one side and Sherlock Holmes from the other. There, one can live a whole life with no regrets.

The scholar, subsequently, descends the marble staircase to the grand archive of MA and PhD theses, professional magazines, and E-books; where one is given the extensive access to the world's greatest universities' libraries and data banks.

There, remain the treasures for the freshman to hunt for in the 3rd floor, to go and seek for the books which were once only dreamt of, the invaluable books to be looked up with caution and tenderness.

Having run out of time, the main door is sought for. From among a number of study halls here and there, the crowd finds its way. Out of the SBUCL, silence remains high round the surroundings, but deep inside, the crowd is screaming with excitement.

The End

Notes:

Beginning:
It starts with "MaMeave," an informal way to start a billet-doux. So this is going to represent a letter from Wallace K. Calb to Meave; probably his girl or wife.

Meave: it's a female given name of Irish origin, meaning "intoxicating" or "she who intoxicates". It has strong links to mead, an ancient honey wine typically consumed during a marriage ceremony. It is rooted in the Irish legend of Queen Maeve or Medb, one of the main protagonists of the early Irish legend Táin Bó Cúailnge. It is also associated with the fairy queen Queen Mab of Irish and English legend.

Wallace: Wallace is of German origin and means "peaceful ruler."  It also is a Scottish surname, meaning "foreigner" or "Welshman".

-          There are a dozen many possible names for the initial "K." but there is no queue why Telisha called her main male character's middle name K, and what meaning she wanted to express.

Calb: The first name of Calb creates an intense personal nature.

Your feelings and emotional desires are strong and consequently you are an individual, determined, strong-willed person.
Your creative nature and ambition drive you to pursue success to the extent that you jeopardize your personal well-being.
There is a tendency for you to dominate others.
You are too certain of yourself, and you are not open to the views of others or responsive to their desires or needs.
Also, this name does not incorporate qualities that enable you to be diplomatic and to compromise.
In all your work and activities you are inclined to be rather unsystematic and disorderly.
These characteristics spoil stability, progress, and accumulation, even though you may put forth intense effort.

Tension and frustration exact a heavy toll on your peace of mind and nervous system.
You are often preoccupied with the desires and demands of the moment.
Temper and indulgence could become serious problems in your life.

-          As the search results show there is an inversion in the name of Telisha's main character. So he's got this weird name which infers to many of the events he faces in his life. I'll point them out further in the notes.

Samson: Samson is a city in Geneva County, Alabama, United States. It is part of the Dothan, Alabama Metropolitan Statistical Area.

D.C. : I am confused about these initials, but they may refer to Washington D.C.

Paragraph2:

Wallace reacts so cold that it seems he is reluctant to do what Flapjack brought the gun for.
Flapjack:
a sweet dense cake made from oats, golden syrup, and melted butter, served in rectangles/ a pancake.

-          Too much intimacy with a "Flapjack" may lead to serious health issues, like too sweet and harmful. I come to smell a rat here.

Salem cigarette: Salem is a brand of cigarettes introduced in 1956 by the R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company as the first filter-tipped menthol cigarette. Its name (along with that of the Winston brand) derives from Winston-Salem, North Carolina, the city where RJR was founded and headquartered.

Paragraph3:
Like Winston-Salem, these two friends as it seems are connected to each other; one smoking Salem and the other Winston. But as Flapjack is described further in the same paragraph a distance between their personalities appears. Flapjack was stressed because his knee is twitching. Flapjack's energy and excitement are described as "a flame in the forest of life" so negative that one might fear the crime he was eager to do.

Paragraph4:
Wallace is feeling bad about what they were about to do.

Paragraph5:
Flapjack tried to make up what he already broke, but Wallace was too impatient to listen to his words.

Paragraph6:
Wallace wanted Flapjack gone, probably because he wanted to get rid of the stressful presence of his.

Paragraph7:
he served in the military during a war. He hated Elvis. He rented a small apartment with its old furniture maybe because that was economically convenient for him. He was broke. He was regretful because he didn't use his youth appropriately, his father was "black", his wife left him, his knee was hurt at the end of the war, he was broke, he was going to obey Flapjack and rob for his daily bread. Wallace couldn't believe himself and what he was going to do. At the same time, he didn't want to take all the responsibility on himself.

Leroy: it is both a male given name in English-speaking countries and a family name of French origin. It is an archaic spelling of le roi, meaning "the king" and is the equivalent of the English surname King.

Whitaker: habitational name from any of various places named with Old English hwit ‘white’ or hw?te ‘wheat’ + æcer ‘cultivated land’, as for example Whitaker in Lancashire and Whitacre in Warwickshire (both ‘white field’) or Whiteacre in Kent and Wheatacre in Norfolk (both ‘wheat field’).

-          "the king of the wheat field", he was looked at as a source they could take their bread from, by force practically because they had nothing to pay.

Paragraph8:
Wallace, when he saw Flapjack didn't show up, got disappointed. Flapjack arrived drunk. Wallace thought of going back to Maeve, but he knew he had no money even for the bus ticket. So miserable he was.

Carlene: The name Carlene is a German baby name. In German the meaning of the name Carlene is: Germanic form of Charles, meaning: a man.

Tilen: As Tilen you seek change, travel, new opportunities, and new challenges.
Your active, restless nature demands action and you dislike system and monotony.
As you are versatile and capable, you could do any job well, although you would not like to do menial tasks.
Having considerable vision, you could be adept at formulating new, more effective ways of doing things.
You could organize the work of others, though in your impatience to see the job done efficiently, you would likely step right in and do it yourself.
You could work well in sales and promotion, and would not be afraid to risk a gamble as the name gives you much self-confidence.
You do not find contentment in the routine tasks and responsibilities that are associated with home and family or with administrative detail in the business world, so you have to guard against frustration and even moods of depression over your personal responsibilities.
The restlessness this name creates could find an outlet in caustic, irritable expression.

-          This Carlene Tilen was apparently a man whose number Wallace kept for his help and support. But why he didn't call him is under question.

Paragraph9:

Poverty and prejudice overtake Wallace, he decides to guide the drunken man and finish what he started. It must finish within 15 minutes.

Paragraph10:

It was a small store's income, so the money doesn't seem much enough. There are still 2 other people in the store and they have to wait before starting the robbery. One of them was a cop and this felt a bit risky.

Paragraph11:

I feel this is flirt!! If you won't pay so just go to the other store!! But it seems she is there for some other reason. The lady and the shop owner were waiting for the 2 men to leave for they had a mutual business to do.

Paragraph12:

He has all the things Wallace would envy, and he is robbing other people by increasing the prices to add to his wealth.
The drunken Flapjack is gone!! He fled!! The woman is still in the shop. It's time to decide. Leroy must be punished for what he has and he does.

Chef Boyardee: It is a brand of canned pasta products sold internationally by Conagra Brands. The company was founded by Italian immigrant Hector Boiardi in Cleveland, Ohio, U.S.A., in 1928.

Ragu: In Italian cuisine, ragù is a meat-based sauce that is commonly served with pasta. Ragu was created by Alberto Alvisi in the 18th century. The Italian gastronomic society, l'Accademia Italiana della Cucina, documented several ragù recipes.

-          She seems to be wasting time, it's getting too late, she must be home now.

Paragraph13_17:

Wallace for some reason decided to do the robbery alone in 2 minutes and he doesn't seem sane here.
She was a potential robber!!
Wallace is getting angrier each moment, Leroy indifferent.

Paragraph18_20:

He's offending Wallace. He hates his father and this man reminds him of his father so, in a moment of rage and vengeance, he shot his gun to shut him up. He was a murderer now, no way calm. He escaped as if nothing happened, but he knew what he did, and he knew he can never ever go back again.

Paragraph21:

He calls to ask how Wallace did and when he understands the money is taken, he asks for money which Wallace won't give him much. Wallace hates him. More than that, he is sad, and he hates himself; unconsciously.

Paragraph22:

Nothing changes; but that I've drastically changed…I will never ever be able to get back to you, Meave. But as the Wallace you knew, he loved you.

+ I really like the story. It showed how calmly we can throw ourselves into a well no one can bring us help.

Paraphrase:

Paragraph1:

Dear Meave,
This is a letter to say hello, containing no other important information but that I miss you. I am feeling very well and my life here is really good, but I'm about to come back for the benefits of small city life.

Paragraph2:

Flapjack put a loaded black gun on the old coffee table over the letter Wallace was writing. Wallace left the letter undone and hid it in his pocket. As calm and quiet as he was before Flapjack's coming, he ignited a Salem cigarette, leaned back in his couch and commenced to smoke.

Paragraph3:

Flapjack, the always energetic excited man, took out his Winston cigarette without starting to smoke. He said referring to the gun to Wallace "you said you wanted it, man … don't back out on me now" his knee twitching of nervousness. Wallace crunched his half-smoked cigarette into a broken blue saucer on the lame-legged table.

Paragraph4:
Wallace, trying to keep his composure against Flapjack's over-excitement about what they were going to do _his excitement made Wallace feel uneasy, said: "I say I want to back out?"

Paragraph5:

Flapjack, being kind of ashamed of what he already said, tried to explain himself but Wallace has left the room and went to the kitchen, opened the faucet not to hear his fellow.

Paragraph6:

Wallace, regained his calmness, said the good-bye words "I'll see you at 11:30" so Flapjack left.

Paragraph7:

Wallace, finding himself alone, sat on his green velveteen chair drafted another cigarette and gazed at the black gun on the table. It reminded him of his glorious time in the military. But what did he have now? He was young, tall, and handsome for his type but he lived as if he had none of it. He was surrounded by the things he hated or at least disliked. He lived in a rental apartment which he couldn't pay for it for three months. He blamed his father most for who he was and what he did. He was sad his wife left him but he didn't blame her. He wished his past would be different. He stared again at the gun, unable to believe that he was going to steal Leroy Whitaker's convenience store for his daily bread.

Paragraph8:

Wallace self-talked to himself words of disappointment since Flapjack was late and when he arrived he was drunk. Wallace fantasized how fine it would be to go back home, but he knew, in reality, it was practically impossible.

Paragraph9:

"Listen to me, Ok." Wallace started to give instructions on what to do and how to do the whole robbery in a quarter of an hour.

Paragraph10:

Leroy's convenience store was very small and the register was at the front door. Flapjack and Wallace tried to seem as if they have common shopping to do; Flapjack was by the magazine rack and Wallace by the baby foods, till the cop and the old lady, the customers, leave the store. She was talking to Leroy about the price of tomato paste.

Paragraph11:

"I will not pay this much Leroy…" while the fat lady was talking to Leroy, the cop left the store. Then, Wallace felt safe. Leroy, as polite as he could be, warned the woman that he'll close in 10 minutes so she'd better choose something quickly.

Paragraph12:

Wallace gazed at Leroy and saw a fat old black over-wealthy man who had a girlfriend alongside with a wife. And he was still immorally increasing his wealth. Wallace searched for Flapjack but he was gone. The indecisive lady has not left the store, yet.

Paragraph13_17:

Wallace wished the lady gone. He knew it was already too late. Though alone, in a blink of an eye, he put his gun on Leroy's temple. It was 11:58.The lady was scared and started screaming; Wallace, calm as he was, turned quickly to her "Get out, lady, or die." She ran out, carrying 3 cans of tomato paste. Leroy stared at Wallace, his eyes cold and indifferent. Wallace saw something familiar in his eyes. He, for some reason, got angry and pressed the gun to Leroy's temple "Okay, give me the money." Without a word, Leroy started putting the money in a bag.

Paragraph18_20:

Leroy started to blame Wallace as if he was born a rubber. He believed he would train Wallace better if he were the father.

And then, Wallace lost the calmness, he was lost in rage and shot the gun. Leroy fell on the ground. He hated his father. He picked the bag and left the store. He knew he can never go back. His future was confirmed. He could pay the rent and live on the money for a while. He would keep the gun, by the way. He sat in his green velveteen chair again and started smoking, but he was not the same Wallace he was 32 minutes ago, anymore.

Paragraph21:

Flapjack called. Wallace said that he didn't get much money and he won't be able to give him much. He hung up the phone and sank into his chair, staring at the blue walls, unable to sleep.

Paragraph22:

"Well, I will not. I want to stay here. I am always going to be a city boy, but I'm not coming back to the city and to you."

Love,

Wallace.

Summarize:

Once upon a time, there was a man called Wallace K. Calb. Once in his life, he had everything, but then for some reasons, things changed in his life. He was a human being with the ordinary desires that every human has, but he chose the hard way to regain what he lost. To tell you his story in a few words, I shall say "He changed."
